One of our deepest human instincts is to find our tribe; to belong; to be on a team. There’s a thrill to feeling like you’ve “found your people.”
If we’ve learned anything this year, it’s the value of our community. Especially in person. Don’t get me wrong, our members put in amazing work to stay motivated and fit when we couldn’t be together.
But when we came back to the gym, wow. There’s just a difference when you’re there in person. The buzz of energy. The sounds of controlled chaos. Your friends cheering you on to finish that workout that you almost quit. The feeling when you didn’t think you could hit a lift, but the coach believed in you, and you nailed it. The post-WOD smiles, fist bumps, and cool-down walks.
The world outside might feel like it’s falling apart, but here, you have the camaraderie of a group of people pulling for you to succeed. Workouts at 5:30 AM don’t seem nearly as early when surrounded by your community. All the feels just hit differently in person.
There’s something incredibly special about a group of people that suffer and sweat together.
Life will have its difficult times. You will fail. You will make mistakes. Who will pick you back up? Your team.
There will be things that you don’t want to do (but you need to do). You’re going to need people to believe in you more than you believe in yourself at those moments.
At Prowess, we strive to do this for each other. Working through an injury? The coach will help you modify the workout, and your classmates will cheer you on through it. Celebrating a new PR? We’ll be there to congratulate you. Feeling like you need to scale back for a day? You’ll get fistbumps from us for listening to your body and doing what you need to do.
